For the 2011 Folkestone Triennial Strange Cargo are producing a People’s Guidebook to Folkestone. We need you to think about places that trigger a memory and then share your ideas with us to go into the book.
Please tell us about your Folkestone, sharing the quirky knowledge you have about the places and objects that exist in the town.
This project is not about the obvious landmarks; it’s about little moments you have experienced, that give you a special connection to a particular place. It could be something lots of people know about, like the metal object on the Sunny Sands that everyone calls the ‘bomb’. It could be something only a few know about, like the drawing of the white horse that’s etched into one of the bronze hands at the station. It could simply be a remnant in the landscape of something that once was.
We can’t wait to get started so please give us a call on 01303 244533 or email us at info@strangecargo.org.uk

| Memories of Summer |
| ‘Identity’ is the main source of inspiration in Martine’s work. She focuses on everyday objects and landscapes. By placing these in a particular context, Martine creates a thought-provoking and fascinating perspective – and in this way she explores how identity is created and influenced by its environment. |
