An activity led workshop project aimed at helping participants understand more about life in Cheriton during the First World War.
Forget Me Not Dazzle Horse
King George V and Lord Kitchener visited Shorncliffe Barracks and rode through Cheriton in 1915 and it was this historic visit to the town that was the starting point for this aspect of our heritage project.
Forget Me Not Wreaths
In total 182 names wreaths were displayed in respectful remembrance across the town for the weekend. The addresses of the soldiers homes were displayed on social media and on notices to enable visitors to seek out the houses and pay their respects.
