Charivari Day 1997
Charivari Day, first held in 1997, marked the beginning of a vibrant tradition that has brought the streets of Folkestone to life every summer for the past 28 years. This annual carnival, which celebrates a different theme each year, has grown into a much-anticipated event that unites the community in a spectacular display of creativity and joy.
The inaugural Charivari Day saw many participants, including bands, dancers, and impressive carnival creations, parade through Folkestone’s historic streets. The procession started at the iconic Stade, winding its way through the Old High Street and town centre, before reaching the Leas bandstand. Since that first celebration, Charivari Day has become a cornerstone of Folkestone's cultural calendar, drawing people of all ages to take part in the colourful festivities that continue to inspire and delight.
