Charivari Day 1998
1998 was the second outing for the Charivari Day carnival, an event which has become a regular and traditional celebration of Folkestone's summer identity.
Exotic Creatures was the theme of the parade costumes, and the workshop programme held in local schools and at Georges House Gallery brought interest from many members of the public, many of who continue to take part annually in the event.
This year's event was also linked to a London based Carnival Training module.
Strange Cargo teams worked with school and community groups in three day workshops to create the costumes. The walker costumes were created in primary school following a teachers masterclass.
