Charivari 2001

Patterns of the World inspired Charivari Day in 2001. Incredible, highly decorative costumes were covered in pattern, each section portraying the colours and styles of a different country.

Strange Cargo teams worked with school and community groups in three day workshops to create the costumes. The walker costumes were created in primary school following a teachers masterclass.

The procession wound it's way though the streets of Folkestone accompanied by fabulous carnival bands and attracting a huge following audience.

There was an afternoon music programme on the bandstand followed by a fantastic amplified evening set at the Amphitheatre.
