Charivari 2005, with its theme "Beach Babes and Surf Dudes," embraced the vibrant spirit of all things beach-related. The event basked in sunshine, making for a perfect celebration.

This year proved fortunate for Charivari, as last-minute emergency funding from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and Folkestone Town Council ensured the event could proceed. The previous year’s rainy memories were washed away by the glorious sunshine that graced the entire day.

The sunny streets were alive with 600 colourful and exuberant participants, including over 20 school and community groups, many joining for the first time. They were joined by five outstanding carnival bands from across the UK.

The lively and joyful procession culminated on The Leas, where a temporary bandstand provided music for a large crowd enjoying a picnic on the grass.
