Charivari 2008
In 2008 Folkestone was awash with contemporary artworks, coinciding with the very first Folkestone Triennial, inspired by this momentous turning point in the towns prosperity, Strange Cargo decided to theme the carnival 'Movements in Art'.
Participants built the most amazingly exhuberant costumes inspired by the work of artistic giants. Over a centuries artistic excellence was plundered in the pursuit of carnival excellence and genres including Young British Artist's, Pop Art, Cubism, Modernism, Surrealism, and a number of exceptional hybrids were fully exploited in best carnival tradition to bring energy and people centre stage in our public realm.
