Charivari Day 2023: A Very British Rhythm
In 2023, our partnership with Museum of Colour brought A Very British Rhythm to Folkestone - celebrating contributions of British people of colour to UK arts over the past 250 years. Through collaboration, we transformed our annual carnival, Charivari, into a learning resource, in which hidden heritage was illuminated to 10,000+ people.
Charivari 2023 offered 800 young people early exposure to the arts through school engagement - working with 10 artists and 1 choreographer of colour, to create authentic carnival sculptures, costumes and dance.
