Charivari 2006

For Charivari 2006, the theme was Carnival of the Giants and was inspired by an incredible research trip to The Viareggio Carnival in Italy. Strange Cargo’s carnival artist team visited the workshop of world class carnival maker Gilbert Lebigre to observe the specialist techniques used to construct the enormous floats in this International spectacle.

The new techniques were incorporated into our carnival workshops, extended to include school groups from the wider East Kent area and colourful carnival giants were created.

The East Kent Giants and visiting French Geants from Nor pas de Calais joined the parade, along with the school giants, hundreds of participants and the fabulous carnival bands.
