Charivari 2002

Charivari 2002, the theme of World Orchestra saw an array of amazingly inventive costumes reflecting various methods and genres of making music take to the streets of Folkestone.

Over 20 school and community groups contributed to a procession of over 600 carnival revellers. Over 100 drummers from bands across the UK brought the sounds and rhythms of the world to the parade. The Bandstand music finale attracted a lively and appreciative audience who joined the costumed participants to dance away the afternoon.

Taking a different and very blustery route, because of disruptions to the town centre, Charivari Day still attracted many thousands of spectators to cheer the procession along.
