Charivari 2002
World Orchestra

Charivari 2002, themed "World Orchestra," featured an extraordinary display of inventive costumes inspired by various musical methods and genres. This vibrant celebration took to the streets of Folkestone, showcasing the diverse sounds and styles of music.

More than 20 school and community groups contributed to a lively procession of over 600 carnival revellers. The parade was energised by over 100 drummers from bands across the UK, who brought the rhythms and sounds of the world to the event. The Bandstand music finale drew a lively and appreciative crowd, who joined the costumed participants in dancing the afternoon away.

Despite facing disruptions in the town centre that led to a different and breezy route, Charivari Day still attracted thousands of spectators who enthusiastically cheered the procession.
