Charivari 2005
Charivari 2005, this spectacularly sunny year had a fitting theme 'Beach Babes and Surf Dudes' and was a fabulous array of all things beach!
This year was a lucky one for Charivari, attracting last minute emergency funding from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust and Folkestone Town Council meant the event could go ahead, plus the memories of 2004's rain evaporated as the sun continued to shine all day.
The sunny streets were noisily filled with 600 colourful and very exuberant costumed participants, over 20 school and community groups took part, many for the first time, and they were accompanied by five excellent carnival bands from around the UK.
The happy and raucous procession ended on the Leas where music on a temporary bandstand entertained the large crowd picnicking on the grass.
