Charivari 2009
Money Makes the World Go Around
Awarded the Inspire Mark - the theme for this year's Charivari Day was 'Money Makes The World Go Round' in response to the recession.
Historically carnival is a political artform, which has traditionally had the capacity to turn the world upside down and upend the balance of power for the day.
We felt Charivari 2009 should contribute to the debate surrounding the economic crisis, **'Money Makes the World Go Round'** was chosen as the theme for the parade and gave participants the opportunity to creatively express their opinions. The incredible costumes produced were a witty, political and thought provoking responses to the challenge.
Charivari Day 2009 was awarded the Inspire Mark, by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) for its inspiration and innovation in working with communities.
Strange Cargo teams worked with school and community groups in three day workshops.
