Commonality of Strangers by Mahtab Hussain

The Commonality of Strangers is an Arts Council England touring exhibition produced by New Art Exchange Nottingham, that reveals powerful stories of UK immigration. In October 2015, the exhibition travelled to Strange Cargo Gallery in Folkestone where following a short residency, Hussain created an addition to the series of photographs, working the local Nepalese community connected to the Royal Gurkha Rifles Regiment in the town. The exhibition runs from 24th October to 19th December 2015.

A conversation between The Commonality of Strangers artist Mahtab Hussain and critic JJ Charlesworth took place at Strange Cargo Gallery on 31st October 2015 as part of the Museums at Night weekend.
