Learning Journeys: Ben Edge Studio Visit

Supported by the Learning Journeys fund, we were able to take our freelance team to visit the studio of artist Ben Edge. Part of our multifaceted research process for Charivari Day 2024.

Ben opened up his doors and welcomed us into the world of obscure traditions and folk culture. Interested in folklore and storytelling, his paintings depict the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. His research reveals that the folklore and seasonal customs of the British isles not only continue to take place, but adapt and inspire.

The trip influenced our artist team to take these learnings into their own carnival builds, and secondary school workshops.
