The Littlebourne Giant
Torrent was the first of the East Kent Giants to be made and awoken and was inspired by the River Nailbourne, which runs through the village and following severe flooding had recently burst its banks. Awoken during a special ceremony in the City of Canterbury, Torrent was surrounded by people from the five towns of East Kent who were destined to become the recipients of their own giants over the next few years.
His Big Head characters are Ebb and Flo, and were another reference to the Nailbourne, whose presence is intrinsic to Littlebourne's history and prosperity. Torrent lives in the barn where he was created, presiding over local weddings and celebrations, and is the elder statesman of the Giants when he visits festivals and events in the UK and Europe.
