The Old High Street Bias Relief Panels
Two buildings in Folkestone's historic Old High Street were dilapidated, unsightly and potentially dangerous and needed hoardings to secure the sites.
Shepway District Council commissioned Strange Cargo to create transformational solutions that could secure the properties but be hardwearing and attractive, an asset to the area rather than an eyesore.
Two bas relief panels were created incorporating imagery relating to the life and surrounding landscape of the street. The words included in the panels were from John Hegley's poem, 'A Disturbing Kerbing', written about The Old High Street in a recent visit.
A fantastic reading of the work took place, delivered by John Hegley at the unveiling of the work.
