The Ashford Giant

The small village of Singleton is surrounded by a lush ring of woodland, home to a diverse population of reptiles and birds, many of which are rare and endangered. Strange Cargo worked closely with the residents of Singleton and the nearby village of Great Chart to envision the Giant's appearance and personality, deeply influenced by the surrounding countryside's flora and fauna. The Giant gradually took shape as a beautiful woodland maiden, adorned in a cloak of shimmering leaves and crowned with a woodland headdress.

Named Flora, she was awakened one sunny morning in the woods above Singleton, accompanied by the melodious sounds of harps and mandolins, and celebrated with delicious cream teas enjoyed in the open air.
