The Festival d’Humor in Tourcoing
The Festival d'Humor in Tourcoing, France, is an annual event that features a diverse range of performers from across Europe in a two-week celebration of performances and activities. For this festival, a team of ten artists from Strange Cargo spent three weeks in residence at an old stable block. Collaborating with students from l'École d'Art in Tourcoing, they developed and presented a unique performance for the festival.
The fusion of local artistic input and Strange Cargo's expertise in creation and performance resulted in "The Ministry of Humour." This piece featured three suited, serious Ministers tasked with regulating the amount of fun allowed during the festival. The performance reached its climax with the Ministers revealing their true, party-loving selves, adding a humorous twist to the festivities.
