The Message Hubs

Strange Cargo has unveiled its community noticeboard scheme, The Message Hubs, at three locations in East Folkestone: South Street, Blackbull Road, and Fleming Way.

Adorned with images of notable East Folkestone landmarks, these Hubs were created in response to a consultation conducted as part of the Kent County Council-funded Folkestone Forward initiative. The consultation highlighted communication as a key barrier to accessing local opportunities and services. The Hub sites were selected in collaboration with local neighbourhood groups and placed at busy intersections to provide unrestricted access for residents to post their own notices and advertisements.

The Hubs make it easier for the community to share local news and events, from community gatherings and fundraising projects to entertainment, fitness classes, and lost pets. They serve as a central point for all the interesting and significant local updates, allowing information to reach a broader audience.

Since their installation, the Hubs have been quickly embraced by the community. Feedback through Facebook, Twitter, and word of mouth indicates that they are a highly valued resource and will be extensively used.
