Jump Up Canterbury Festival
Jump Up marked a significant shift in Strange Cargo's approach to launching the Canterbury Festival. While a traditional parade had opened the Festival for several years, the arrival of a new Festival Director brought about a collaborative, performance-based celebration in the heart of the urban city centre.
In partnership with Lea Anderson’s renowned dance companies, The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs, a new choreographed work was created and performed by local dance students. The striking event also featured large-scale costumes, live video feeds, and the intense drumming rhythms of the electrifying Dhol Foundation.
The experience captivated and exhilarated the capacity crowd that had gathered in Rose Square, setting a vibrant tone for the Festival's opening evening.
