Winter Wishes Lantern Parade

A cultural exchange of young people to create, and take part in lantern events in Boulogne and Folkestone.

The Winter Wishes parades were designed to create linked community celebrations in the UK and France and offer the children of each town the opportunity to celebrate together.

Our bilingual artist team led workshops to teach lantern making skills to artists and young people at L'Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Boulogne. In the UK, a schools based lantern programme was delivered in Folkestone in preparation for a cultural exchange.

UK students had great fun in Boulogne taking part in the traditional Fête de Saint Nicolas and French student traveled to the UK to take part in Folkestone's Winter Wishes Parade.

The children were able to eat and hang out together before the events, testing newly acquired language skills and making friends.
