Zine Workshop 2016

Margate based artists Steve Alan, Jo Murray and Bob Henderson delivered a zine making workshop where participants walked away with their very own creation. They led everyone through the world of homemade self-published magazines, where you’re the editor and cut’n’paste is done with scissors, not CTRL + C. In preparation for Strange Cargo's Zine Library weekend on the 1st and 2nd October we invited people to come and take part in our free artist led Zine workshop! Aimed at ages 16-25 plus.

“A zine (/ˈziːn/ zeen; an abbreviation of fanzine, or magazine) is most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original and/or appropriated texts and images usually reproduced via photocopier.”

Zines are all about the DIY. All materials were provided and there was a chance to check out some of our previous Zine Library submissions for a bit of inspiration. This was a great chance to have a play and explore the world of Zines by having a go! A perfect afternoon activity!
